14: What To Build?
This post is part of my Dailies collection. You can see more here
The last few days have seen me playing around with APIs and getting a bit more comfortable with them. That's all well and good but I am struggling to think of a project that I can take on to build. Ideally its something that solves an issue I have.
One thing I have been pondering is a web-based markdown/rich text editor that:
- Generated open graph images using your blog title
- Had an LLM integration that could give you tweet suggestions based on the article you've written.
It could pull from different formats that do well, but use your own voice and style. But I'm still not sold on having an AI generate tweets for me. I feel I should still be owning that myself? I don't know, maybe I'm being silly. What is important is that product centres around long form writing, which is never a bad thing. It would just provide a way to repurpose your long form stuff into dopamine for the doomscrolling masses.
I am getting more 'indie-web'-pilled by the day, but also recognise the need to have a way to repurpose content if you want to build distribution. Sometimes you have to play the game. So my thought was to build something that forces me to be long-form first, generates my open graph images, but also allows me to break up my articles into tweets.
Meanwhile, my other project, Hookwriter AI, sits partially finished because I got bored. I am starting to get back into old habits, and need to snap out of it.
